I grew up in the shadow of the Battle of Jutland, where my Grandfather, Admiral Sir John Jellicoe, commanded the British Grand Fleet.
After retiring, I decided to write Jutland. The Unfinished Battle; it was published in 2016. An accompanying website, Jutland1916.com, which has a wealth of supporting materials, can be useful to those wishing to explore deeper.
I had wanted to be a photo-journalist but was lured to New York to work in advertising instead. I’ve worked with some great companies – Rolex, Bulgari and American Express – to name a few. I grew up in the UK and studied politics at York University and in Paris at Science Po, the Institut des Études Politiques. My continued study of (very rudimentary, unfortunately, HSK 2) Chinese reflects my college and family interests in China.
Three years later, in June 2019, The Last Days of the High Seas Fleet was also published. It’s the story of the scuttling of the German Fleet in Scapa Flow in 1919. In 2022, I added a third title, George Jellicoe, SAS and SBS Commander, the story of my father’s role in the early SAS in North Africa as David Stirling’s 2iC and later his role as commander of the Special Boat Squadron in the Aegean.
I am married to a Peruvian, naturalised American, Patricia, and have two wonderful daughters, Zoë and Francesca. Zoë’s an accomplished editor in London while Francesca, who studied classical Chinese and Asian & Middle Eastern Art and Archaeology in China and London, wants to work in kelp reforestation.
